Thank you for visiting our website! We are Nick and Caitlin Knabe with Knabe Woodwork. In 2014 we decided that we were going to make ourselves a headboard out of some old scrap wood in the neighborhood. What we thought would be a one time thing turned into a overnight business. For the first year, we only made custom headboards and hand painted name signs. A year in Caitlin's mom wanted a barn door and had great faith in our skills. After finishing that door, Nick never wanted to hang another door in his life. We ran into every issue you can when hanging a barn door. Caitlin talked him into continuing to build them, and here we are! Over 300 doors in, 1000+ signs, over 100 headboards, and 20+ tables. We now are venturing more into furniture and welcome every piece and idea our clients bring us. We hope to make Knabe Woodwork a household name in the DFW area. In 2018, we welcomed our first little employee, Leighton, and we are hoping for her to start helping in the shop soon!

This all started with a headboard we made from scrap wood in our growing neighborhood. After the headboard we started making custom wood signs for friends and that boomed!
Next came the sliding barn doors. We have done almot 45 of these doors over the last 2.5 years. We LOVE THEM. They are all unique and we learn something new with each one! We have also done outdoor shutters and indoor sliding shutters.
***UPDATE now close to 4 years of doing this and we are now at 158 barn doors***
